The new Mayor of Chernivtsi wants to strengthen the integrity of the city with the support of the EUACI

On February 10, the Head of Unit of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), Allan Pagh Kristensen, reaffirmed EUACI’s intention to continue working with the city of Chernivtsi to strengthen its integrity. Since 2017, Chernivtsi has been one of five partners in EUACI’s support to increase the transparency and accountability of local authorities; often referred to as the Integrity Cities’ project.

Chernivtsi Mayor Roman Klichuk:

“Transparency and openness are important priorities of me and my team. Therefore, we are very proud to be part of the Integrity Cities’ project and are grateful to the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative for all the efforts made to implement the numerous integrity tools. In recent years, Chernivtsi has faced many challenges, including a worsening of the city’s business environment. Therefore, we strive to achieve sustainable improvement and changes. We also want to strengthen interaction with civil society.”

One of the implemented integrity tools is the geo-information system of the Chernivtsi city GeoPortal, which is available at the link. In 2020, Geo-Portal of Chernivtsi won the “Effective Community” competition of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in the category of Geo-information Solutions, in which almost 700 communities took part.

EUACI recently reaffirmed its intention to continue implementing the Cities of Integrity project in NikopolChervonohrad, and Zhytomyr. The Integrity Cities project also covers cooperation with Mariupol.

The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative is a program of international technical assistance to Ukraine in combating corruption, funded by the European Union, co-financed, and implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark since 2017.
