The Chernivtsi Geographic Information System won the Effective Community Contest

News

On October 19, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine named Chernivtsi’s city as the winner of the Effective Community [Dieva Hromada] Contest in the Geoinformation Solutions category.

In cooperation with the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), Chernivtsi City Council is updating its geographic information system (GeoPortal), which increases transparency and minimizes corruption risks. The launch of new layers, namely the land cadastre, the register of advertising spots, the register of investment objects, the budget on the map, the register of municipally-owned real estate, significantly increases the city’s competitiveness and the efficiency of management over the municipal resources.

The competition was the first step in assessing the digital transformation of cities and regions to develop a future strategy for the digital transformation of Ukraine regions. About 700 communities participated in the competition.

One of the key components of EUACI is enhancing the local government’s capacity by minimizing the corruption risks aimed at increased transparency and accountability of local administration.
