To discuss the main transformations needed of the Ukrainian private sector in contributing to an effective recovery process Ukrainian businesses, government representatives, and international experts met at an offline event in Kyiv.
The open dialogue “From Lugano to London: A Vision of the business integrity for the reconstruction of Ukraine” was hosted by the Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) on 15 June. This event was the final one within the UNIC Business Integrity Month 2023.
During the event, participants discussed the main challenges facing Ukrainian businesses today in terms of adapting to global competition, being able to engage in reconstruction projects, and promoting changes, compliance and modernization within the private sector.
“No reconstruction without Ukrainian companies. BUT it cannot be business as usual. If the reconstruction is going to be a success we need to see a transformation of Ukraine’s private sector. Companies need to build trust – and you do that by pursuing values of integrity, accountability and transparency and by complying with best international practices” emphasized the head of the EUACI in his address to the event participants.
The dialogue took place on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023, which is considered a significant milestone in advancing the competitiveness and equitable participation of Ukrainian businesses in the reconstruction and potential EU membership-related processes. UNIC experts will present a Roadmap for Transparent Recovery of Ukraine in London that has been developed together with Ukrainian businesses.
