How to promote local business development? The experience of the Danish municipality Guldborgsund

On May 18, John Brædder, Guldborgsund community mayor (Denmark), shared his experience with Ukrainian colleagues in promoting local business development during the online forum "With Integrity to Success: How to Build a Business-Friendly Community". The event was organized by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) and the U-LEAD with Europe Program

“Our municipal council is doing a lot to improve the working conditions of enterprises. We also decided to develop a dialogue with local companies to better respond to their needs, to find solutions together. In particular, this applies to the search for land for business. We are working on plans to develop specific aspects and parts of the municipal unit, which includes the development of recommendations for investments. All this is done in cooperation with local residents, companies to ensure a common understanding and vision of the development of the territory", said Bradder.

EUACI Head of Unit Allan Pagh Kristensen said:

“Meeting the needs of business at the local level through business-friendly regulation is challenging. For this reason, such forums are important for the dissemination of best practices and tools that will help increase the transparency and accountability of Ukrainian communities.”

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, during a video message to the forum participants, noted that Danish municipalities profess the values of both partnership and fair competition:

The forum also included a panel discussion to exchange Ukraine's best interregional practices, attended by EUACI partners – Mr. Andriy Zalivskyi, Chervonohrad mayor, and Mr. Taras Khavunka, Head of Lviv Regulatory Hub, Chernovohrad city mayor adviser.
