In the socio-political investigation category, Babel won with the piece “The ‘Rock’ (Skelia) assault regiment has combat merits and good equipment. And yet, witnesses say, people are being tortured and beaten to death there.” Author: Kateryna Lykhohliad; editor: Kateryna Kobernyk.
In the international humanitarian law investigation category, Texty.org.ua and NZZ won with “One of Hundreds of Thousands. The Story of a Ukrainian Orphan Who Disappeared in Russia.” Authors: Olena Kushchenko, Inna Hadzynska, Natalia Romanyshyn, Adina Renner, Andreas Rüesch, Forrest Rogers, Yasmin Hegetschweiler, Nicolas Staub.
The Special Prize for the best regional investigation was awarded to Oksana Havrysh, journalist at Chetverta Vlada, for her investigation “To Hell with Waiting That Long: How a Maternity Hospital in Rivne Manipulates the Right to Free Medical Care.” The award was presented by the EUACI Head Allan Pagh Kristensen.

It is very important for us to recognise the good work of journalists in the regions, who do not always receive the attention they deserve. You are doing important work for your communities, often facing pressure from local authorities,”
said Allan Pagh Kristensen.
