The annual Youth Marathon of Integrity
`

The first experience of corruption at schools often occurs when students are looking for other options to get a good mark than doing the homework well. At that moment, the habit of "bending the rules" is formed because "everyone else is doing it".

On 15-23 February, three EUACI partner cities hosted a Youth Integrity Marathon for schoolchildren to discuss values, ethics and moral dilemmas. The events were organized by VoxUkraine with the EUACI support.

In Chervonograd, Chernivtsi and Zhytomyr, 62 teams, comprising 250 high school students, took part in the events. Participants from Nikopol had the opportunity to take part remotely by receiving the kit by post.

During the marathon, a Crystal Lighthouse board game tournament was held for high school students. Its goal is to create experience in addressing moral dilemmas, demonstrating the benefits of virtuous behavior in society, and to deepen the level of knowledge about fighting corruption.

Representatives of educational departments, schools and local civil society also participated in a round table «Engaging Youth in Anti-Corruption Initiatives at the Local Level»

The discussion included a presentation of the results of research on the perception of corruption by Ukrainians and on the perception of integrity by teenagers.
