The anti-corruption strategy, with sufficient public funding, will help ensure the teamwork of all authorities to combat corruption in various areas – health, defence, social protection, state regulation of the economy and more.
“This is an ambitious strategy with the potential to create a new momentum in preventing and combatting corruption. Now implementation is crucial and the EUACI will be there to assist and facilitate. It will create user-friendly alternatives to corrupt practices, envisage improving legislation and regulation and seek to promote a culture in which corruption is not tolerated. We are pleased that Ukraine is taking another step towards tackling corruption and pursuing European values,” said Allan Pagh Kristensen, Head of EUACI.
The next important step in its implementation should be the development and approval of the State Program for implementing the anti-corruption strategy. The adopted draft law gives the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine six months from the date of its entry into force to approve the state program.
The NACP developed the draft Anti-Corruption Strategy in 2020. The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative also involved experts in drafting the document.
