NABU has adopted the Development Strategy for 2021-2023

The National Bureau has adopted the Development Strategy for the period of 2021-2023. The document offers an analysis of the context and environment in which NABU has operated since its launch in 2015, describes challenges and threats faced during the pre-trial investigation of corruption offenses.

The Strategy, which was developed in 2021 with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI), outlines the focus of the National Bureau in 2021-2023 on the implementation of four strategic goals. Namely:

  •  successful implementation of the Bureau's anti-corruption tasks;
  •  proper information and analytical support and state-of-the-art information infrastructure;
  •  institutional independence, processes and procedures that ensure the efficient and secure functioning of the National Bureau;
  •  effective communication and increasing the level of trust in NABU.

In turn, each of these strategic goals has a more detailed description and a thorough implementation mechanism. The text of the Strategy can be found here*.

The NABU Strategy 2021-2023 is intended to be a guide that has to ensure the sustainable development of the institution during the change of its leadership: the term of the current Director expires in April 2022 as stipulated by the Law "On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine".

The document was presented during the conference "7 Years of Anti-Corruption Reforms: Challenges and Results", which took place on Dec. 9, 2021 in Kyiv.

* The National Bureau Strategy 2021-2023 was approved on Sept. 1, 2021, before the amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine" came into force. However, these changes have not affected any of NABU's strategic goals.
