With the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) a public discussion ‘NABU, SAP, ARMA: Achievements and Challenges in Work’ was held on 23 January, in Kharkiv.

Participants discussed the results achieved by the law enforcement agencies engaged in fight against corruption. The role of the civil society in the selection of candidates for the positions of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine was also discussed.

Halyna Kokhan, EUACI Anti-Corruption and Prevention Expert, have told about successes and challenges in establishment of the High Anti-Corruption Court. And Serhiy Derkach, EUACI Anti-Corruption Investigation and Prosecution Expert, told about the support of newly established anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative.

According to Serhiy Derkach, EU member states and projects such as EUACI not only demonstrate their full support but also help institutional capacity and effective work of anti-corruption authorities. .

‘The improvement of the professional skills for NABU and SAPO staff is a priority of our activities ,’ said Serhiy Derkach.

In total more than 100 participants took part in the discussion, including civic activists, journalists, scientists and students.

‘Corruption fight is impossible without the active participation of the civil society. We are open to cooperation and ready to listen to everyone,’ assured Yuriy Kravchenko, Director of Kharkiv Territorial Directorate of NABU.
