Promoting Integrity as a Standard in Schools

On 19 August, the NACP Integrity Office presented the updated guide for teachers “About Integrity” and the curriculum “Anti-Corruption Course for 9th Grade.” The materials were developed by teachers, academics, and practitioners with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUAC). Recently, they were approved by the Ministry of Education and Science for use in schools.

These educational tools include practical exercises and lesson plans to integrate the topic of integrity into school subjects for students of different ages.

“If we want to have a holistic approach to fighting corruption, we cannot avoid talking about schools and education. Because the understanding of integrity values is often formed here,”

said Allan Pagh Kristensen, Head of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative, in his welcome remarks to the participants.

The updated teacher’s guide “About Integrity” (https://cutt.ly/JrH2QM5H) is suitable for all school subjects for grades 5–11. The examples in the guide demonstrate how integrity applies across different spheres of life.

The methodological guide “Anti-Corruption Course for 9th Grade” (https://cutt.ly/8rH2WIC8) is designed for use in law studies classes.

“Education is a space to pass on the right practices and values to children, pupils, and students. If we foster intolerance to corruption from an early age, we raise citizens who will be able to change society and the state for the better tomorrow,”

noted the NACP Head Viktor Pavlushchyk.

Participants also took part in practical sessions, where they tested the new materials, and joined a discussion on how to effectively integrate integrity approaches into the study process.
