News

19-21 March National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine’s experts had a study visit to their colleagues in Vilnius, Lithuania. Lithuanian law enforcement officials shared their experience in analyzing and managing data in law enforcement agencies.

During the visit, Ukrainian experts visited the Criminal Police Bureau, the Special Investigation Service and the Financial Crime Investigation Service. The main purpose of the visit was to learn the best European experience of analysis and data management during the investigation of crimes.

“We’ve been interested particularly in the organization of work with informants and the procedure of control over the operational funds usage while paying compensation to them. In addition, during the meeting with the head of the internal security unit STT, we learned how to collect information about the lifestyle of the institution employees,” said Mykola Yulatin, Deputy Head of the Internal Control Department.

The study visit was organized by the European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI).

EUACI senior anti-corruption expert Elena Konceviciute said: “Lithuanian law enforcement officials were happy to share their experience with NABU analysts and detectives. They learned that positive transformations are not only possible but also doable although it’s a lengthy and painful process.”
