On 8-9 December, the annual Municipal Forum was held with over 400 representatives of local self-government, deputies, government, and international partners in attendance. The event was organised by the Association of Ukrainian Cities with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative, EU4Reconstruction Stream 2 and the Council of Europe.
The Head of the EUACI Allan Pagh Kristensen joined the panel “Education Reform”, during which he emphasised the connection between education and the fight against corruption.
“Schools are where the values of a new generation are formed, so working with teachers, principals, parents, students and local authorities on promoting integrity in schools is very important,” said the Head of the EUACI.
The EUACI supports the National Agency on Corruption Prevention in developing policies and practical tools for the educational environment. The EUACI has developed an Education Integrity Strategy for 2026–2030, which establishes clear goals and stages for the formation of a culture of integrity in schools and universities. The EUACI has selected four civil society partners to assist in implementing different parts of the strategy.

In addition, Allan Pagh Kristensen shared the Program’s experience of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and the School Nutrition Reform Team in minimizing corruption and other risks in the construction of school canteens. EUACI experts have been monitoring the use of the state subventions for the modernisation of school canteens, saving over 320 million UAH and enabling the renovation of additional 36 school canteens.
The EUACI continues to implement activities that aim at promoting integrity in schools, universities and in the construction of canteens.
