Continuation of the Corruption Park: the exhibition ‘Ukraine without corruption’ opened in Kyiv

News

On 11 December, the exhibition ‘Ukraine without Corruption’ was opened. It will be held from 11 December, 2018 to 26 January, 2019 in America House in Kyiv.

The project aims to raise awareness about corruption and ways of fighting against it, first of all, among the young people. Using the interactive format, the exhibition continues the dialogue started by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) with the Corruption Park, and shows that everyone can fight against corruption. As Eka Tkeshelashvili, EUACI Head, said during the opening ceremony: ‘There is no bigger threat in fight against corruption then disillusionment that it is not possible. If society itself falls into this disillusionment, no external or internal actor can help to change this’.

The exhibition ‘Ukraine without corruption’ will display major corruption schemes, as well as methods and approaches being used today around the world to fight against corruption. Visitors will have the opportunity to find out what is being done in Ukraine nationally and internationally to overcome corruption and to get practical tips for everyone to take a stand against corruption.

In addition, the project includes youth voices – digital stories of personal experiences of overcoming corruption created by alumni of the U.S. Department of State’s Future Leaders Exchange Program.

Besides, within the framework of Corruption Awareness Week America House in Kyiv also hosted a panel discussion ‘High-Level Corruption Fight. Where are we and where do we go?’ The representatives of NABU and SAPO together with journalists and the representatives of international organizations, discussed the main achievements and outcomes of the work of anti-corruption bodies and told how they coordinate their work to achieve the shared mission. They also discussed what civil society can do to join the fight against high-level corruption.

Participants of the panel discussion:

  • Andriy Kalyzhynskyi, Head of Detective’s Unit, NABU
  • Volodymyr Kryvenko, SAPO Deputy Director
  • Levan Duchidze, Country Director in Ukraine, IDLO
  • Denys Bihus, journalist, founder of Bihus.info
