A Visit to Volyn Region to Study School Canteens Constructed with Integrity and Transparency

On 15 May, the First Lady Olena Zelenska visited three newly modernised school canteens in the Volyn region with the participation of the EUACI. These canteens are examples of successfully completed projects in a joint effort of the Ministry of Education and the School Nutrition Reform Team — with the support of the EUACI that contributed to transparent construction processes and minimization of corruption risks.

The visit included three different schools — from a small village school to a large regional one, representing different types of school canteens, modernized as part of the School Nutrition Reform.

  • Dubivskyi Lyceum, a central kitchen now preparing and delivering daily hot meals to children across the community.
  • Oblapy Gymnasium, children enjoy healthy food delivered from the central kitchen in a newly renovated dining space.
  •  Volyn Military Lyceum, over 500 cadets receive four meals a day in a modernised, functional canteen — improving both living conditions and social support for students.

The EUACI presented the First Lady with the results of the monitoring of the reconstruction of the school canteens: estimates review, procurement oversight, reconstruction works supervision and dashboards — all aimed at building trust in every stage of the process.

At the EUACI, we are proud to contribute to the School Nutrition Reform, providing better nutrition to thousands of Ukrainian school kids.
