Ukraine prepares for the negotiations about the EU membership — the first mock session on the anti-corruption policy took place on 20 August

News

On 17-19 September, a bilateral meeting (screening) between the Ukrainian delegation and the European Commission will take place in Brussels. This meeting will cover chapter 23 of EU’s acquis ‘Rule of law and fundamental rights and freedoms’. This chapter also includes the main part of EU’s anti-corruption acquis.

As part of the preparation for the meeting, the Ukrainian team started 12 simulation exercises (“mock sessions”) to cover EU law and policies in the areas of judiciary, anti-corruption policy, and fundamental rights and freedoms.

On 20 August, the first mock session on anti-corruption took place. The Ukrainian delegation represented by the team of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention provided a draft presentation on anti-corruption policy.

Three prominent anti-corruption experts engaged by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), Laura Stefan, Davor Dubravica, and Vitaliy Kasko participated in the event and provided feedback to the Ukrainian delegation in preparation for the bilateral screening meeting.

On 28 August, the second session on anti-corruption is planned.
