Digital criminal proceedings — a promising future or already a reality?

The eCase Management System (eCase MS) is a flagship project of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI). The system enables detectives, prosecutors, and judges to process procedural documents electronically replacing a cumbersome and inefficient paper system.

The development of the system started in 2019 with technical and financial support from the EUACI. The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) became the last anti-corruption institution joining the system and recently HACC processed its electronic motion number 1000 through this system.

🔹 Were the expectations from the eCase system fulfilled?
🔹 How is the security of the system guaranteed against external interference and illegal leaks of information?
🔹 What are the prospects of development of eCase system?

These and other questions were discussed in the podcast хештег#JustTalk_Context together with the host, Supreme Court judge Oleksandra Yanovska. Key staff of the EUACI, NABU and HACC participated.

“This is an uncontested way of case management in the criminal system. The eCase MS provides us with speed, because it saves time on logistics; transparency, because a physical document can be lost, while in the system all actions are recorded; and sustainability, because we don’t use paper and there are no carbon emissions” says Andriy Hnidets, expert of the EUACI.
