Students, Detectives, Searches, Court, Competition — the annual Moot Court!

The Fifth All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court took place in Ivano-Frankivsk. The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) consistently supports projects that help shape a new generation of lawyers who think critically, act professionally, and uphold the rule of law. This year’s fifth Moot Court brought together exactly such young talents.

Ten top teams from across Ukraine gathered in Ivano-Frankivsk to take part in an intensive programme closely simulating real top-corruption cases. Over the course of three days, participants conducted mock searches, carried out interrogations, engaged in courtroom debates, and worked alongside NABU detectives, SAPO prosecutors, and legal and anti-corruption experts.

Winners of Moot Court 5:

  • 1st place — “Bona fides” (a joint team of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University)
  • 2nd place — “Crimen et Poena” (Ukrainian Catholic University)
  • 3rd place — “Guardians of Transparency” (Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs)

The special “Best Speaker” award was presented to Yelyzaveta Ersteniuk of the “Bona fides” team.

“Work with youth and education is always timely. This gives us a chance to raise a new generation of Ukrainians with integrity values and attract the best young people to the anti-corruption area. The EUACI continues to support NABU, SAPO, the High Anti-Corruption Court, and partner institutions in developing educational and practical programmes that foster a strong culture of integrity and prepare a new generation of professionals for Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure”,

mentioned Yana Ryzak, EUACI Communication Expert, in the welcoming words.

Each team demonstrated perseverance and a genuine interest in criminal law and anti-corruption work. Building a community of proactive and motivated students became the true victory for all participants.

The All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court is organised by NABU, SAPO, and the High Anti-Corruption Court in partnership with King Danylo University, with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI).
