Professional development of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court

From March 3 to 7, the National School of Judges of Ukraine (NSJU), with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), conducted its annual mandatory training program for the judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC).

The sessions were held by leading Ukrainian and international experts, judges, NSJU faculty members, and law scholars.

“‘I had the pleasure of addressing the judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court at the opening of their annual training program organised by the National School of Judges with our support. I used the occasion to thank them for their dedication and impressive results. Established five years ago, the Court has become Ukraine’s best example of fair and just trials. Around 80 new verdicts last year. Even defense lawyers praise the Court for its high quality decisions. Keep up the good work!”

Allan Pagh Kristensen, Head of the EUACI, comments

During the training, judges and experts explored key topics related to the qualification of corruption offenses, legal approaches, psychological adaptation in wartime conditions, international practices regarding virtual assets and their use in judicial proceedings, financial investigations of crimes involving cryptocurrencies, application of digital evidence in criminal proceedings, use of artificial intelligence in the justice sector, effective communication within the judiciary, and the unification of judicial practice as a part of the EU integration process.

The training also covered challenges and priorities related to Negotiation Chapter 23, “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights,” in Ukraine’s EU accession process.

The training was conducted with the participation of experts and with the support of international technical assistance projects, including projects of the Council of Europe, GIZ Ukraine, the non-governmental organization “IUSTICOM,” the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine, and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation.
