How can local open data be transformed into user-friendly services for citizens? This question was at the heart of Chernivtsi Open Data Hackathon 2.0, traditionally organised at the end of the year by the Chernivtsi City Council with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative.
This year, more than 30 participants, united into 10 teams, took part in the competition. Among them – developers, designers, data analysts, students, and experienced professionals working on practical solutions for the city.
The teams focused on three key areas: visualisation of municipal data for citizens’ convenience, development of new digital services, and improvement of existing city council platforms.
The winners of Chernivtsi Open Data Hackathon 2.0 are:
1st place — team Dust with the solution CityRent, a tool for monitoring municipal assets rent and upcoming tenders;
2nd place — team Hype with CvGo, a smart mobility solution for Chernivtsi, and team Cyber Division with a City Council chatbot designed to optimise access to information;
3rd place — team Dream Team with the solution Digital Youth Council Chernivtsi.
Participants amazed with their engagement, high level of technical expertise, and strong understanding of community needs.
The Chernivtsi Open Data Hackathon becomes a tradition that brings together the IT community and local authorities to create innovative solutions. The best projects have the potential to be implemented in municipal services, turning the hackathon into not just a competition, but a platform for real change.
