NABU and SAPO Increase Efficiency in Investigating High-Level Corruption

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) continue to strengthen their role as central pillars in Ukraine’s fight against top-level corruption. The report for the first half of 2025, presented today, shows steady growth in both impact and effectiveness.

Among the highlights of their work are landmark investigations involving senior officials and systemic corruption, including in the defense sector, land management, and public procurement. The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, a former Deputy Head of the President’s Office, the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Administration, a former Kyiv City Council member, and other high-ranking officials have been served with notices of suspicion.

NABU’s and SAPO’s important role in promoting rule-of-law and ensuring that no one is above the law shows that independent institutions matter on the path to the EU. Recent challenges and the strong public response underscore that their role in society is vital.

The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative remains a dedicated partner of Ukraine in fighting and preventing corruption. We continue to support NABU and SAPO through institutional development, IT solutions, training and international exchanges, legal expertise, communication, and other support to strengthen their long-term capacity and resilience.
