Danish Foreign Minister Reaffirms Support for Ukraine’s Independent Anti-Corruption Institutions

On Friday, Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen met with NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and SAPO Head Oleksandr Klymenko.

The leaders of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions presented their results in tackling high-level corruption and outlined the challenges ahead. The most pressing among them is safeguarding the institutional independence of anti-corruption bodies.

Since 2017, Denmark has been systematically supporting Ukraine’s anti-corruption reform through the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) – the EU’s flagship programme in this field, co-funded and implemented by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Denmark is currently holding the Presidency of the EU. The Danish Minister reaffirmed that an independent and effective anti-corruption system is a cornerstone of Ukraine’s progress on its path toward European Union membership.
