Unlike the times of the Soviet Union, Ukraine now has many public control tools to prevent corruption, and every citizen can contribute.
The National Agency on Corruption Prevention, with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), has launched a national awareness campaign, “Corruption is not a heritage.”
The campaign aims to involve the public in monitoring the work of authorities in order to make their work more transparent, effective and to reduce corruption in Ukraine.
For example, the idea of creating an inclusive and barrier-free space can be discussed at public consultations. To ban the activity of an online casino, people can create an electronic petition. One can find out who allowed sand mining near the river and whether it is legal through a request for public information.
