JustConf2024, held on November 28, 2024, brought together experts and professionals in criminal justice to explore how common sense can serve as the basis for justice. The conference took place with the support of the EUACI.
“I believe that in well-functioning societies common sense and criminal justice should go hand-in-hand. When people do not feel that justice is done through the criminal justice system, when judges are corrupt, when you cannot rely on the outcome of a court case, then people lose trust in the justice system,” Allan Pagh Kristensen, Head of the EUACI said in his speech.
The conference focused on modern Ukrainian criminal justice challenges, including the impacts of war and occupation, as well as the adaptation of civil justice needs in this context.
JustConf2024 emphasized the importance of uniting international efforts and fostering professional communities for criminal justice reform.
Ten selected speakers, including judges, NABU detective, scientists, and human rights activists, shared insights on topics such as crime combatting, judicial expertise, and the challenges posed by the war crimes and temporary occupation of part of Ukrainian territories.
