The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) report second half-year 2020 results. According to the report, the NABU and SAPO work’s economic effect made about 57 mln EUR in 2020.
At the same time, over the past year, NABU and the entire anti-corruption infrastructure have faced serious attacks.
Head of NABU Artem Sytnyk:
“For the first time, we have faced new, brutal attempts to interfere in the work of anti-corruption bodies, including the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to repeal the provisions of the NABU law and electronic declarations. All this proves: the corrupt system does not want to give up, but we will not step back. I thank international partners and civil society activists for their support and for defending the anti-corruption front together with us.”
The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative is pleased to contribute to the NABU’s institutional development by providing technical and expert support to drafting and analyzing laws, strategic policy planning, mentoring and implementing IT projects.
In particular, the EUACI continued building the electronic case system of pre-trial investigations for NABU, SAPO, and HACC. The eCase MS is ready to be used once the relevant legislation in place. NABU employees visited the international developer Synergy International Systems in Armenia to sharpen their skills in administering the eCase.
In addition, in order to increase the efficiency of NABU analysts and detectives, the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative supported the implementation of two IT infrastructure projects: Automated data collection system and Data warehouse.
Other activities implemented in cooperation with the EUACI are highlighted in the report, which is available at https://cutt.ly/4lhssqW (Ukrainian only).
The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) continues to support NABU to strengthen its capacity and accelerate institutional and operational development.
