Head of EUACI and Minister of Justice of Ukraine Discussed the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Reform and the Further Cooperation Plan

On 2 September, Eka Tkeshelashvili, Head of EU Anti-Corruption Initiative, met with Denys Maliuska, Minister of Justice of Ukraine to discuss the current results and future prospects of the implementation of anti-corruption reform with the support of EUACI.

Ms Tkeshelashvili outlined the strategic areas and priorities of the current phase of the programme: EUACI as the technical assistance programme is designed to provide advisory and expert support of the anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine (NABU, HACC, NACP, SAPO, ARMA), local governments and civil society organisations in the field of preventing and combating corruption.

EUACI supports the implementation of anti-corruption mechanisms and the transformation within the local governments as part of the “Integrity Cities” project, as well as enhances the capacity of the Anti-Corruption Policy Committee of the Parliament.

Denys Maliuska named the priority activity of the Ministry of Justice – reform in the areas of enforcement proceedings, state registration and penitentiary system.

Further cooperation between EUACI and the Ministry of Justice will continue within the next phase of the programme ‘EUACI Phase II’, scheduled for 2020-2024.
