On 4 December in Kyiv, the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) presented the analytical report “Risks in providing engineering and consulting services in construction”.
The event brought together representatives of state authorities, local government, professional associations of consulting engineers, and international partners to discuss key challenges in the construction sector.
The study identifies 19 risks related to the provision of engineering and consulting services. These risks include, among other things, determining service costs, procurement procedures, quality assurance, reporting and documentation, as well as coordination and interaction among participants of the construction processes.
To minimise the identified risks, the EUACI experts propose the following measures:
- improving approaches to quality control and technical supervision;
- updating professional standards and procedures;
- strengthening coordination and transparent interaction among all participants;
- promoting integrity practices at all stages of project support and implementation.
The recommendations developed by the EUACI experts, together with proposals of the discussion participants, are expected to serve as a basis for further improvement of the system of engineering and consulting services in construction in Ukraine.
