The team of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) presented Ukraine’s experience in the field of fighting corruption at the Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum in Paris. During a dedicated side event, experts discussed the resilience of Ukrainian reforms and institutions under the conditions of full-scale war.
The event began with a screening of the documentary “After the Era of Silence,” which reflects the creation and development of Ukraine’s modern anti-corruption institutions and the role of civil society and international partners in this process. The movie is produced by hromadske jointly with the NACP and the EUACI.
The central part of the event was a discussion on the future of anti-corruption reforms in a complex geopolitical climate. Insights were shared by Kateryna Ryzhenko, Deputy Executive Director at Transparency International Ukraine; Lora Ujkaj, Policy Officer at the International Affairs Unit of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST); Julia Fromholz, Head of the Anti-Corruption Division in the OECD’s Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs (DAF); and Iryna Shyba, Deputy Head of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), who moderated the discussion.
The participants concluded that today, Ukraine serves as an example for other EU candidate countries, successfully implementing transparent competitions, integrity checks, and involving international experts in audits. Ukraine’s developed network of anti-corruption bodies is proving its ability to investigate high-level cases.
At the same time, the experts emphasized that the sustainability of reforms directly depends on the will of national governments, as even after significant progress, it is vital to keep anti-corruption among key state priorities to avoid the risk of backsliding.
In addition to organizing the side event, the EUACI supported the participation of representatives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and the All-Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) in the forum.
In December 2025, Ukraine officially joined the OECD Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions. Exchanging experience at this level is another step toward our integration with international standards and on the path to the EU.
