According to the competition results, which lasted two years, Oleksandr Klymenko became the head. The newly appointed Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin signed the corresponding appointment order today.
According to the competition results, Oleksandr Klymenko scored the highest number of points and was recognised as the winner by the competition commission. Mr Klymenko has more than 10 years of professional experience,specifically at NABU, where he investigated criminal proceedings regarding top corruption.
The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative provided comprehensive support to the competition commission in order to strengthen the transparency of the merit-based selection of candidates. The appointment of the SAPO Head will contribute to the investigation of corruption cases and the strengthening of the entire anti-corruption infrastructure of Ukraine. In addition, with this step, Ukraine is getting closer to fulfilling one of the seven requirements of the European Commission for the start of membership negotiations to the European Union.
