Anti-Corruption and Rule of Law on the Way to the EU: Workshops on the implementation of Ukraine’s Rule of Law Roadmap

News

The Rule of Law Roadmap covers key reforms necessary in the area of the rule of law for Ukraine’s accession to the EU. In particular, the Roadmap covers the measures on the fight against corruption. The EUACI supported a series of expert workshops focused on turning Ukraine’s Rule of Law Roadmap into concrete actions on the ground.

On 4-6 February in Kyiv, the workshops brought together representatives of public authorities, civil society, EU institutions, and international experts to jointly work on how the anti-corruption commitments under Ukraine’s EU accession framework will be implemented in practice.

Participants were working on solutions for:

  • strengthening the capacity, independence, and accountability of anti-corruption institutions;
  • mainstreaming anti-corruption safeguards across public policies, performance audit and whistleblower protection;
  • improving rules on conflicts of interest, asset declarations, and lobbying;
  • aligning Ukraine’s legislation and practices with EU and international standards;
  • corruption prevention in public procurement and reconstruction.

The workshops are сo-organised by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative, the EU-funded Pravo-Justice Project, together with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Supporting the workshops, the EUACI strengthens Ukraine’s institutional readiness for EU membership and creates a professional space for dialogue between reform leaders, implementing institutions, and partners.
